Getting Started
- Tap the + button on the Records tab to add a new expense.
- Enter the amount, choose a category, pick the date, and add an optional note, then tap Save.
- Tap any expense to edit it. In List mode, swipe left to delete it; in Grid mode, long-press a card.
- View monthly summaries and charts on the Stats tab.
- On the Records tab, tap the month above the total to switch between a specific month and All Time; the total and the records below follow it.
- On the Stats tab, tap a slice of the category chart to see that category's total next to it.
- On the Stats tab, tap a bar in the Daily Trend to see that day's total above it; tap it again to clear it.
- On the Stats tab, the Monthly Trend and Yearly Trend cards below the daily chart plot one bar per month and per year; tap a bar to see that period's total.
Display Layout
- Open Settings > Display to switch the home screen between List and Grid.
- List shows one expense per row, grouped by day.
- Grid shows two cards per row, each with the category, note, day, and amount. The Statistics breakdown uses cards too.
Managing Categories
- Open Settings > Categories to see all categories.
- Tap a category to edit its name, color, and icon.
- Tap Add Category to create your own category.
- User-created categories can be deleted by swiping left on them. Built-in categories can be edited but not deleted.
- When a category is deleted, its expenses are automatically moved to Other.
Temporary Cards
- On the Records tab, add a temporary card (for example, a company-issued travel card) and set its balance. The block on the records screen always shows each card's remaining balance.
- In the expense form, use Charge To to deduct an expense from a card. Charged expenses carry a small card badge in the records list.
- Tap a card to see its balance breakdown, record top-ups, and view or edit both the top-up history and the charged expenses. Use Edit Card there to rename a card or set its balance.
- The remaining balance is the card's set balance plus recorded top-ups minus the charged expenses, so any edit or deletion updates it automatically. A negative remaining balance is shown in red.
- Deleting a temporary card keeps its charged expenses in your records (unlinked from any card) and removes its top-up history.
Backup and Restore
Your data is stored only on your device. To back it up or move it to another device:
- In Settings > Backup, tap Export Backup to save a copy of your database.
- Tap Import Backup to restore from an exported file. Importing replaces all current data.
- If a backup contains categories that are not recognized, the affected records are placed under Other so your spending history stays intact.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where is my data stored?
A: All data is stored locally on your device in a private SQLite database. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud or shared with anyone.
Q: How do I transfer my data to a new iPhone?
A: Export a backup on the old device, then import it on the new device. The backup file includes your expenses, categories, and settings.
Q: Can I get a category back after deleting it?
A: Deleted categories cannot be restored directly, but you can recreate them in Settings > Add Category and re-assign expenses manually.
Q: Import failed or the file was rejected?
A: Make sure you selected a valid backup file created by the Export Backup feature. The app verifies the file before importing, so other SQLite files without the expected structure are rejected and your current data is left untouched.
Q: What does the “Database Recovery” message mean?
A: The app could not open your saved database, so it started with a new, empty one and kept the unreadable file on your device (named like db-corrupt-20261006-080937.sqlite). Your data was not sent anywhere. If you exported a backup before, import it in Settings > Backup to restore your records; deleting the app removes the kept file.
Known Issues
- Amounts are entered without a currency symbol. The app uses your device's number format (for example,
1,234.56or1.234,56). The selected currency is for display only and does not convert saved amounts.
